Key Person
Each child is allocated a Key Person who looks after them, and liaises with you to ensure your child quickly becomes happy and settled in at PK. Their first role is to get to know your child and your family, they will then help your child settle into their new environment, ensure their needs are met and they feel safe, secure and confident at all times.
The Key Person works with you to plan and deliver a personalised plan for your child’s wellbeing, care and learning. The Key Person is responsible for developmental records and for sharing information on a regular basis with you. Each child is also allocated a Co-Carer who will cover when the Key Person is on holiday, training, or unwell.
Although all the PK staff will actively interact with your child during their time at Pre-School, your child’s Key Person is there to support you and your child at all times.
EYFS Statutory Progress Check
An Age 2 (30-36 months) Progress Check is carried out by your child’s Key Person. The check considers your child’s general progress. Recording progress on their stage of development in: communication and language, physical, personal, social and emotional development. Parents and carers are invited to discuss the report and contribute suggestions for the next steps. This review supports your child’s 2 year health check carried out by health visitors.
Staffing Ratios
We maintain the ratio of adults to children in the setting as required by Safeguarding and Welfare requirements. 2 year olds = 1 adult per 4 children, 3 years and above 1 adult per 8 children. However, we strive to keep our ratio’s lower than the statutory requirements.
